Grandfather, grandson identified as passengers in deadly Arkansas plane crash

WOODRUFF COUNTY, Ark. – One person is dead and another is injured after a plane crashed in a field just north of Highway 64, according to officials.

The Woodruff County Sheriff Phil Reynolds confirmed the crash happened Thursday between McCrory and Augusta near the Cyprus Creek Golf Course.

The passengers were identified as a grandfather and grandson with the last name Looper. The grandfather reportedly died as the scene, and the grandson was taken to a hospital were he is currently in surgery. The condition of the grandson is unknown at the time.

The sheriff’s office said the 911 call came from a farmer and his wife who witnessed the crash.

The plane flew out of the the Little Rock airport, according to officials.

Officials have not confirmed the cause of the crash.
