WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) — Windsor Locks police say a 16-year-old employee at Spare Time Windsor Locks is recovering after being pinned down by a sweeper bar.

Police said it was around 4:20 p.m. Sunday when they responded to the bowling alley at 129 Ella Grasso Turnpike for report of a teenager trapped in the bowling lane.

Upon arrival, crews found the 16-year-old unresponsive, with only a faint pulse and shallow breathing.

She was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment and as of Monday, police say she’s recovering.

Preliminary reports show the teen had tried to clear the lane when the sweeper bar came down and pinned her. Due to the sweeper bar’s weight and pressure, officials believe her breathing was restricted, causing the loss of consciousness.

Other employees raised the bar manually to free her.

Police said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified and is responding.
