
ALABAMA (WHNT) — In the month of August so far, Alabama agencies and/or cities have either been awarded or are the contracting agencies for some U.S. Department of Defense contracts.
August 1
Army
Boeing Co. at Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for cargo engineering and logistics support services. The DOD website says the amount of this action is $882,122,870. The work locations and funding are said to be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of July 31, 2030. The DOD website says that the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal is the contracting activity for this contract.
Huntsville’s Systems Products and Solutions Inc. was awarded a firm-fixed-price contract for “maintenance support device version four rugged and version four light systems.” The DOD said the amount of this action is $74,792,859. The estimated completion date of this contract is July 31, 2030. The contracting activity for this contract is the Army Contracting Command in Newark, New Jersey.
August 4
Army
According to the DOD, three Alabama agencies, along with agencies in three other states, are competing for a firm-fixed-price contract for general repair and construction. B.L. Harbert International LLC, Birmingham, Alabama, Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, Birmingham, Alabama, Caddell Construction Co. LLC, Montgomery, Alabama, Hensel Phelps, Orlando, Florida, Korte Construction Co., St. Louis, Missouri and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., Baltimore, Maryland, are the six agencies in competition for the contract.
August 5
Missile Defense Agency
Dallas’ Lockheed Martin Corp. Missiles and Fire Control was awarded a $23,564,873 modification to a previous contract. The initial contract was for the investment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Configuration 3.1 Part B1 Ground Modernization equipment to support the U.S. government. The DOD said the THAAD Configuration 3.1 Part B1, and associated labor, will be procured under a firm-fixed-price contract line item. The total value of this contract is increased from $10,416,783,858 to $10,440,348,731.
Work for this contract will be performed in the following areas:
Dallas, Texas
Sunnyvale, California
Troy, Alabama
Huntsville, Alabama
Camden, Arkansas
The estimated completion date for this is Nov. 30, 2028, and MDA in Huntsville is the contracting activity.
August 6
Army
Tetra Tech, Inc. in San Diego, California, was awarded a contract modification for recurring maintenance and minor repairs services for petroleum facilities. The modification was an increase of $9,318,617, bringing the face value of the contract to $52,434,095. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of July 31, 2026.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center in Huntsville is the contracting activity, according to the DOD.
August 8
Navy
The Clement Group LLC out of Montgomery, Alabama, is one of nine agencies awarded a combined-maximum-value price modification to increase the capacity of their respective and previously awarded contracts for general building type projects. Award of this modification brings the total cumulative value for all nine contracts combined to $307,000,000, the DOD said.
The contract overview says work will be performed in Florida (67%) and Tennessee (33%) and is expected to be completed by September 2026. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida, is the contracting activity, the DOD said.
The DOD said Mobile, Alabama, will be responsible for 1% of work on a $43,114,274 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification for the Marinette Marine Corp., in Marinette, Wisconsin. The contract is to exercise the option and provide funding for engineering and class design support for the Constellation-class Guided Missile Frigate.
