Pristine 1966 Chevy Impala SS Convertible Heads to Premier Auction After $322K Restoration

A meticulously restored 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible, boasting an investment of more than $322,000 in restoration work, is set to cross the auction block at Premier Auction Group. The vehicle, listed as Lot A25-115, is drawing attention not only for its exceptional quality but also for its exhaustive list of rare factory options and original components.

The Sandalwood Tan Super Sport features a matching-numbers 396-cubic inch Turbo-Jet V8 engine, rebuilt to deliver its original 325 horsepower, mated to a rebuilt factory four-speed manual transmission. With just over 1,200 miles since its comprehensive frame-off, rotisserie restoration in 2013, the car has spent most of its post-restoration life in pristine condition, tucked away in Washington state.

What sets this Impala SS apart is its unmatched list of original and New Old Stock (NOS) equipment. The vehicle was restored with every available factory option of the era—except for the optional trunk-lid luggage rack. Highlights include air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power windows, a power convertible top, and a rare 4-way power driver’s seat. Also featured are tilt-telescopic steering, cruise control, deluxe seat belts with retractors, console-mounted gauge package, and a factory AM multiplex radio with console controls and original speakers.

Additional period-correct details such as the NOS tissue dispenser, remote trunk release, tri-volume horns, tinted windshield, and wire wheel covers on 6-inch-wide wheels bring further authenticity. The power white convertible top, black vinyl bucket seat interior, and full documentation—including every invoice and receipt from the restoration—round out the offering.

Premier Auction Group currently lists the high bid at $15,250, though the final hammer price is expected to climb significantly due to the car’s provenance and condition. Collectors seeking one of the most comprehensively equipped and restored Impala SS Convertibles in existence will find this example hard to surpass.
