It feels preemptive to deem a player "back" before the season even starts. But the hype train surrounding Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the fantasy football community can't go overlooked any longer.

The Yahoo Fantasy Forecast Podcast discussed how Prescott appears to be a steal in the middle of fantasy football drafts and why you should also be targeting the rest of the Cowboys offense as well.
Yahoo's Matt Harmon was joined by Establish the Run's John Daigle to talk QBs and Prescott immediately was mentioned as a great value pick given what we're expecting from this Dallas passing game in 2025. Last season, Prescott missed more than half the season, finishing with 1,978 passing yards, 11 TDs and 8 INTs over eight games before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a torn hamstring.
Daigle points out that it wasn't too long ago when Prescott was among the elite QBs in fantasy football — and in the NFL overall. In 2023, Prescott had his best NFL season, finishing second in MVP voting behind Lamar Jackson while posting 4,516 yards with 36 TDs (led the NFL) and nine INTs. That Cowboys offense featured CeeDee Lamb, Tony Pollard and not much else (Michael Gallup, Jake Ferguson and Brandin Cooks were the other receivers).
When you look at the Cowboys offense going into 2025, there appears to be more depth at receiver with the presence of George Pickens, a complementary piece the team hasn't had next to Lamb. Daigle is making sure he targets not only Lamb over a WR like Justin Jefferson, but also Pickens later in the draft.
Right now, Dak ranks as the QB10 in Yahoo's consensus rankings at the position for the 2025 NFL season. Prescott is also coming in at an ADP of 100.5 on average, also around the QB10 range. That means you can snag Prescott around the eighth round in most 12-team formats.
If you're trying to wait on QB in your fantasy football draft, targeting Dak isn't the worst idea if the Cowboys are going to chuck all season.
