Usually when cars are abandoned in an old building, they’re pretty worthless, but this old NASCAR team owner’s collection isn’t. In fact, the vehicles it contains combined are worth millions of dollars, prompting us to ask why the family lets them just sit and gather dust.
This collection of dusty muscle cars is shocking.
We wouldn’t even know what all is in this collection were is not for YouTube channel Stringer media. But the YouTuber has a warning for anyone thinking they’re going to go take a look themselves: the family has the defunct museum which contains all these amazing cars under 24 hour watch.
If they’re that concerned, why don’t they clean up the cars and put them somewhere nicer? It’s a crazy situation.
The museum, which was part of an RV park and motel for reasons we don’t entirely understand, was abandoned back in 2014. Both businesses shuttered and have just sat ever since the owner’s death.
The AC Cobra alone, which is no continuation model but is one of the original made by Carroll Shelby, is worth well north of a million alone. Same with the Ford GT40, not to mention the many other one-of-one, famous racecars all sitting under one roof.
The late owner of this collection, Tom Mitchell, owned Circle Bar Racing. It not only competed in NASCAR but also was in IndyCar and some other series. While Mitchell was obviously quite accomplished in his heyday, it’s sad to see the glory of his career reduced to this.
However, none of the cars seem to have sustained any damage. Instead, they just need a good professional detailing and should look amazing again. And it perplexes us along with plenty of other people why that hasn’t happened.
