DES MOINES, Iowa — The event that gets Des Moines students ready for school is celebrating its 20th year. Back 2 School Iowa will take place Sunday, August 16th from 2-5 pm at Evelyn K Davis Park.
Another Iowa soldier deployment looms, mothers gather cards for soldiers
Founders Shekinah Fountain and Deidre DeJear made this year’s theme “More Than Just School Supplies.” That’s because they’ll also be providing free haircuts, physicals, fresh produce, hot lunch, games and prizes.
The organizers urge people to arrive early if they are coming for school supplies.
