
TREMONTON, Utah — Two police officers were shot and killed, and a deputy and K-9 were injured while responding to a domestic disturbance in Tremonton late Sunday.
An officer from Tremonton Garland Police responded to several hang-up calls from a residence near 700 North and 200 East about 9 p.m., according to a news release from Brigham City Police. The officer spoke to a resident about an apparent domestic dispute when a man with a gun emerged from the home and fatally shot the officer. A second officer who arrived to assist was also fatally shot.
A deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The suspect fired several shots into the deputy’s vehicle, hitting the deputy and a K-9. The deputy was taken to a hospital where they are in fair condition. The K-9 is also recovering.
Additional officers arrested the suspected shooter and booked him into the Box Elder County Jail for investigation of aggravated murder.
The names of the deceased officers have not yet been released.
