Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, will be spending Labor Day in New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Federation of Labor announced on Aug. 13.

The senator will be the keynote speaker at the labor union’s 2025 Labor Day Breakfast at the Double Tree in Manchester on Sept. 1.

“Senator Sanders has stood shoulder to shoulder with our members—on picket lines, in union halls across the country,” said Glenn Brackett, President of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO, in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to New Hampshire.”

Sanders last visited the Granite State in October of 2024, where he accompanied former President Joe Biden at an event in Concord.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and President Joe Biden promoted the Biden-Harris administration's work on lowering prescription drug prices and campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris at an official White House event in Concord Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024.

Is Bernie running for president?

Sanders is the latest high-profile politician to announce a trip to the Granite State. Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., is set to make multiple stops in New Hampshire on Aug. 22, and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., visited the state earlier this year.

Gallego, Klobuchar and Pritzker's trips to the First-in-the-Nation primary state have stirred rumors of 2028 presidential runs, and University of New Hampshire Survey Center Director Andy Smith said they are “testing the waters."

But what about Sanders? He and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y., have drawn big crowds on their  “fighting oligarchy” tour. But Sanders would be 87 years old by the time of the 2028 election, which he alluded to when asked about whether he would run for president in a recent CNN interview.

“Let’s stop worrying about that,” Sanders said to CNN’s Dana Bash on Aug. 10. “I am going to be 84 years of age, next month as a matter of fact, so I think that speaks for itself.”

Smith said in an email that Sanders is likely too old to be a “legit candidate.”

“But he is certainly someone who can motivate the Dem. base heading into 2026,” Smith said. “Perhaps he sees himself as a king or queen maker!”
