Porsche Enthusiasts United: Megaphonics Draws Big Crowds

It’s that time of the year again, where Porsche enthusiasts gather at Megaphonics, the biggest celebration of the brand in Europe. One might expect the largest Porsche gathering in Europe to be held in Germany, but that’s surprisingly not the case. Instead, the annual event is held in the UK and put on by British company Boxengasse.

A financial influencer recently showed off his ignorance of cars in the most hilarious way.

With an estimated 5,500 attending at the lakeside venue in Bicester, some Porsche owners drove from as far away as Italy to show off their ride. Displayed right alongside those weekend warriors and daily drivers were some rare racecars.

In similar fashion, regular enthusiasts rubbed shoulders with industry specialists such as Porsche restorers, dealers, etc. It’s a place for everyone who’s a fan of the brand to get together and celebrate.

Brought in with meticulous care were some absolutely legendary Porsche racing prototypes like the 904-079, 906, and 908. Famous racecars which notched up big victories in motorsports were also on display, most notably nine used in Group C endurance events and the Gulf-liveries Porsche 917 used in the Steve McQueen film Le Mans.

Artwork, music, and food were part of the mix as well, with the gathering drawing in attendees from faraway places like the US and Middle East.

According to Boxengasse CEO Frank Cassidy, the venue in Bicester is designed to mimic the Porsche design philosophy, as are other elements used in each Megaphonics gathering. “Fundamentally there are attributes that Porsche [models] have that you will find in many other things. Yes, we are a Porsche show but we are really an appreciation of craftsmanship, design and engineering.”

If you’re a Porsche enthusiast, you might want to put Megaphonics on your bucket list and make a point to attend next year.
