A freshened face and 32 miles of all-electric range

If you want the convenience of driving all week long without gas, but you also want the ability to take longer weekend drives, then the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid is the perfect vehicle to take you there. The model gets an attractive facelift that includes a new grille, front bumper, and wheels. The interior also receives improvements with better tech, a new steering wheel, and an updated center stack that provides better physical knobs and buttons for climate and audio, reducing driver distraction.

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid comes in two trim levels: SEL ($39,730) and Limited ($47,440). The new grille is wider and sits atop a redesigned bumper that provides a silver contrasting color, versus the old body-colored version. The new look is more truck-like and gives the front end a fresher look. Both trims are powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder and an electric motor with a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total output is 268 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on both the SEL and Limited trims, with impressive EPA estimates of 35 mpg across the board, and an all-electric driving range of 32 miles. Charging the Tucson PHEV takes about 1 hour and 52 minutes from 0-100% using a Level 2 charger. For August, Hyundai offers a great lease deal on the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid.

2025 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid SEL highlights

The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid SEL is packed with a long list of standard features that includes 18-inch alloy wheels, 235/60 R18 all-season tires, Bi-LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED turn signals, automatic headlights, heated side mirrors, high beam assist, rear spoiler, roof side rails, hands-free smart liftgate, proximity key with alarm and pushbutton start, 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar, heated front seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with OTA updates, a 4.2-inch gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, dynamic voice recognition, Bluelink + Advanced package, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid also comes with excellent safety features, including blind spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian/cyclist/junction turning detection, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, smart cruise control with stop & go, safe exit assist, and rear occupant alert. It also comes standard with a tire pressure monitoring system. The 2025 Tucson Hybrid also won the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, making it one of the safest SUVs in the industry.

The Tucson PHEV loses some space to make room for the battery. The total passenger volume is 105.9 cubic feet, down a bit from the gas and gas-electric hybrid versions. The front row provides 41.4 inches of legroom, and the second row delivers 39.5 inches of legroom. The cargo area has 31.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 66.3 cubic feet with the seats folded flat. While it’s not as big as the gas or hybrid versions, there’s still enough to haul gear and groceries without any trouble. It’s a small sacrifice to make for zero gas usage on your daily drive.

Final thoughts

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid is one of the few PHEVs playing in the segment, and it offers tremendous versatility with its electric-only mode that’ll have you driving gas-free all week long. Its PHEV Hybrid form saves money at the pump, and the potent powertrain makes for easy on-ramps and starts off the line. The very reasonable lease price with $0 security deposit makes it even more appealing. Before signing the lease agreement, review the costs due at signing, including taxes and registration fees, potential dealer costs, etc.
