Vice President Vance will speak with National Guard soldiers stationed at Union Station on Wednesday amid the Trump administration’s federal takeover of Washington, D.C., law enforcement.
President Trump deployed National Guard troops to the nation’s capital earlier this month to aid in the administration’s crackdown on crime in the District, despite data showing crime is down. Several states have also agreed to lend troops to the president’s effort, which has also involved deploying federal agents across the city.
D.C. officials and residents have pushed back against the efforts.
The event is scheduled to begin around 1 p.m. EDT.
