
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting last month in Kansas City, Kansas.
According to court records, Dezmond Colson was charged with second-degree murder in Wyandotte County for the July 15 shooting death of 49-year-old Larone T. Brasfield.

Kansas City, Kansas, police officers responded to the shooting just after 6 p.m. in the area of North 25th Street and Freeman Avenue, just north of State Avenue.
FOX4 has previously reported on Colson, a repeat sex offender, who previously served time in Lansing prison for violating a restraining order and bringing a gun on the campus of New Chelsea Elementary School. He was released from prison in 2019.

Colson’s next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at 9 a.m.
He is currently being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
