On an article about Gov. Ron DeSantis authorizing more executions in one year than any other governor in state history.

Playing GOD!!! — J. Burg

Yes, the people who murder innocent people are playing God. This state is happy to introduce them to the real God. — L. Clifton

Pro life party huh? — G. Harasz

So you believe that taking the life of an innocent baby is the same as taking the life of a cold blooded killer? — B. Mccarthy

On a John Hill column about the ongoing Hope Florida scandal.

What. Another John Hill Bashing .. knock me over with a feather!! Again Ron is doing great as is our State. — A. Hood

Yeah, it’s always unfair when politicians are “bashed” with the facts! — K. Newman

I like to be open-minded and see both sides of a story. As of yet, the only side I’ve seen is this one. Actually, we have seen a smidgen of the other side, which is basically the governor denying any wrong doing. Why, with such a predominance of red in our state, has there yet to be anything more that a lame attempt to debunk this story. Could it be at all possible that where there’s smoke there really is fire? Perhaps, Mr A. Hood can bring forth some real arguments as to why we should not be concerned about this, rather than just condemning the messenger. The right side has not done a very good job at all in attempting to refute this mess.... I wonder why? — B. Norris

Where are the Florida moderates that care about good governance? Everything is so defensive and focused on left vs. right. This question isn’t whether California sucks; it’s whether the Hope Foundation committed fraud and, if so, who is responsible. Republican Floridians shouldn’t consider one governor’s poor judgment a threat to their political belief system. You can still be a Republican while holding those who govern us accountable. — S. Billings

From a column about how to fix the Social Security funding gap.

There is nothing wrong with SS. It’s not going to end. There is and always will be money for all who pay in. Again this is just another .the sky is Falling Falsehood!! Sit back, enjoy life and when you retire and start collecting remember I told you everything is ok. P S I’m 71 and back in HS we had a teacher tell us we would never collect SS because it would run out!! Again he was wrong. — A. Hood

In this case the sky is definitely falling. Just ask any actuary, economist, or CPA, i.e., the people who know what they’re talking about.. Once again, the most effective and immediate measure that can be taken to ensure the solvency of the SS Trust Fund for several decades to come is to eliminate the cap on the payroll tax. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should not pay the SS tax on income over $400k. — R. Scoggins

On an article about the U.S. citizenship test possibly getting harder for immigrants to pass.

My lovely neighbor from Great Britain, my SIL from Ukraine, my good friend from Venezuela - each of them studied very diligently to become citizens. Each took the entire process very, very seriously. I have attended multiple swearing-in ceremonies as a friend, family member and lawyer assisting in the process. Not one single person didn’t take it seriously. All of them are now very proud Americans. — J. Price

I’d like to know how many birthed Americans could answer those questions. My guess is that at least 50% would fail if not more. —K. Sikora

On an article about Medicare covering at-home nursing care for dementia patients for the first time this year.

It covers 70 hours per year. That works out to about an hour and a quarter per week. A caregiver barely has time to get to the grocery store and back in that time. Honestly, this is a crises level situation for the caregivers of seniors with dementia and this solution is like throwing a bucket of water in a raging house fire. I’m glad that they are recognizing that something needs to be done but this falls far short if the goal is to keep dementia patients out of facilities. —J. Rodriguez

On an article about the world’s largest cruise ship docking at a Port Canaveral.

Let me correct the headline: “World’s largest contagious disease incubator docks at Florida port, will embark on trips soon.” — H. Mudd
