A male juvenile was fatally shot around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Ave.
A City of Savannah press release stated that Savannah Police Department (SPD) officers responded to the scene based on ShotSpotter reports. When officers arrived, they spotted the 17-year-old victim "on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds." Officers then rendered aid until EMS arrived.
The victim was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
SPD officials are actively investigating the shooting and therefore stated they could not provide more details about the incident.
