
DES MOINES, Iowa — As the Iowa DNR nears the end of its weekly testing period, 17 Iowa state beaches were placed on the swimming not recommended list.

According to the Iowa DNR’s website, the 17 beaches were found to have E. Coli levels higher than the state’s standard. The affected beaches are listed below:
Backbone Beach in Delaware County
Beeds Lake Beach in Franklin County
Big Creek Beach in Polk County
Brushy Creek Beach in Webster County
Clear Lake State Park Beach in Cerro Gordo County
Crandalls Beach in Dickinson County
Emerson Bay Beach in Dickinson County
George Wyth Beach in Black Hawk County
Lacey-Keosauqua Beach in Van Buren County
Lake Ahquabi Beach in Warren County
Lake Darling Beach in Washington County
Lake Macbride Beach in Johnson County
Lake Manawa Beach in Pottawattamie County
Pine Lake South Beach in Hardin County
Pleasant Creek Beach in Linn County
Prairie Rose Beach in Shelby County
Union Grove Beach in Tama County
Several of these beaches have been under a swimming not recommended advisory for several weeks due to persistent high E. Coli levels. Advisories will be in place until the levels drop below the state standard.
