Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A dog was rescued from the Chattahoochee River in Georgia after falling down an embankment and becoming stranded in the rushing waters.

The White County Office of Public Safety said on social media that White County Fire Services and Habersham Emergency Services responded to the river, near Goat Neck Road, on Friday "after receiving a call that a dog had fallen down an embankment and become stuck in the river."

Assistant Chief Josh Taylor and EMS Lieutenant Shad Sosebee entered the river to conduct a "swift water rescue."

A video shows the responders placing the canine on a floating stretcher and keeping it calm while returning to shore.

The department shared a photo of the rescuers posing with the uninjured canine after returning to shore.
