FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Kentucky Supreme Court is set to hear arguments about the state’s charter school funding law, weighing whether it violates the Kentucky Constitution.
In 2023, a Franklin Circuit Court Judge issued an order on House Bill 9, which would have created a public funding stream for charter schools in Kentucky, arguing the bill was unconstitutional.
LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:
Attorney General Russell Coleman asked the court to hear an appeal on the ruling.
Charter schools have been legal in Kentucky since 2017, but none have opened due to a lack of funding.
Oral arguments will begin on September 11.
