Classy Couple Busted For Stealing Nissan 240Z

A classy couple out of Columbus, Georgia were caught after allegedly stealing a 1973 Nissan 240Z and sold it. While most people would think an old 240Z isn’t worth enough to bother with stealing and reselling it, these two apparently thought otherwise.

The suspects, Ashley Herring and David Parr, reportedly stole the classic car from a home on July 23. Even worse, the victim said the Nissan belonged to his late father, so it held a high amount of sentimental value.

How Herring and Parr were identified as suspects isn’t clear from the WRBL report, but police searched her phone and found evidence they sold the Fairlady Z to someone else in Marietta by forging the bill of sale using the victim’s dead mother’s identity.

In other words, a scummy crime got even scummier.

Thankfully, there’s a happy ending in this sad situation because police were able to track down and recover the car. You can see from the photo it doesn’t look like much, but like we said some thieves aren’t targeting highly valuable rides.

In other words, if you have a vehicle you think thieves don’t want, chances are you’re wrong. They will take just about anything these days. You can thank high prices for both new and used vehicles for motivating thieves.

Now is the time to take steps to guard against car thieves. Keeping your vehicle inside a locked garage is a good first step. So is investing in some sort of anti-theft device, like a kill switch.

Putting up cameras where you park is another solid move since it will help identify suspects if someone does steal your ride. And putting at least one GPS tracker in it will be huge for recovering it if it’s swiped.
