Claire's to close almost 300 stores across the U.S. including these four in Alabama

Claire's, the tween jewelry and accessories chain, is restructuring under Chapter 11 and will close 235 Claire's locations in the U.S. and 56 Icing stores. Around 830 Claire's and Icing's locations are not expected to close immediately.

Claire's Holdings LLC announced on Aug. 20 that it had sold its business to private equity firm Ames Watson for $104 million, following its bankruptcy filing earlier this month.

This is the second time Claire's has filed for Chapter 11, citing mounting debt, declining mall traffic, tariffs and online competition.

What Claire's locations will be closing in Alabama?

Among the 235 stores to close around the U.S., four Alabama stores will be closing.

  • Leeds: 6200 Grand River Blvd E. Ste #421

  • Alabaster: 300 Colonial Promenade Parkway

  • Decatur: 1801 Beltline Road S W #B-8

  • Foley: Foley Highway #59 Suite 116

The dates when stores will close have not been disclosed.

Among the 291 stores closing, these states have the most: California (25), New York (18) and Illinois and Pennsylvania (16 each).
