LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A large fire department response has been seen in Lansing near the Capitol building.

The crews received reports of smoke at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday and responded to Capitol Towers, which is located directly next to Lansing City Hall at 110 W. Michigan Ave.

6 News was on the scene and could see at least four fire trucks, including two ladder trucks. One truck extended its ladder up the side of the building.

The scene is no longer being evaluated, and only one fire truck remains.

Lansing Fire Chief Brian Sturdivant reports that an overheated HVAC pipe caused the smoke.

The 6th floor of the building was evacuated, and the 5th and 7th floors were required to shelter in place.

No injuries have been reported.
