Ford Motor Co. has issued recalls for more than 1.7 million of its vehicles, including some made at its two Louisville-area plants.
Ford is a key company in Kentucky, employing thousands of workers in Louisville at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant that produces the Super Duty trucks, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator and the smaller Louisville Assembly Plant, making the Escape and Lincoln Corsair.
In the first half of 2025, Ford filed 88 vehicle recalls with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to NHTSA data — 90 if you count recalls on equipment. More than 6 million Ford vehicles are affected. Ford's filings now surpass the record set by General Motors of 77 recalls for all of 2014, the Detroit Free Press reported.
"Our commitment is: We’re always going to do the right thing for the customer," Kumar Galhotra, Ford's chief operating officer, told the Detroit Free Press. "This is not about financials or anything else. We’re going to continue to improve quality. The early indicators (of Ford's changes to fix quality) are very good. And, over time, the recalls will come down with it."
Earlier this year, the automaker launched the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition from the Kentucky Truck Plant.
On Aug. 11, Ford is expected to have what CEO Jim Farley called a "Model-T moment" for the company — a reference to the historic Ford vehicle that essentially launched the automaker 120 years ago — as it announces, "plans to design and build a breakthrough electric vehicle and a platform in the U.S.," at LAP.
