Here's how A&Ws across northeast Wisconsin are celebrating National Root Beer Float Day

Aug. 6 is National Root Beer Float Day and A&W Restaurants across Northeast Wisconsin are celebrating while also supporting Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

From 2 to 8 p.m., customers can visit their nearest A&W to receive one small root beer float for free. A&W is known for its in-house made, fresh root beer, based on the original recipe made in 1919.

While there's no purchase necessary, guests will be encouraged to donate to DAV or purchase a limited-edition collector's mug. All sales from the mugs, priced at $10, will benefit DAV.

The restaurant chain first launched its annual National Root Beer Day celebrations in 2013, and since then has raised over $1 million in support of American Veterans.

"National Root Beer Float Day is one of our favorite days of the year because not only do we love putting smiles on our guests' faces with free treats, but we proudly give back to the people who have bravely served our country," said CEO and president of A&W Restaurants, Betsy Schmandt.
