After bear with its head stuck in a bucket for more than a week has been rescued from the dangerous situation. Posts on social media indicated that wildlife officials were able to dart the bear and remove the bucket on Sunday morning — and Bring Me The News has confirmed that the bear is now safe.
"Time is ticking for this bear to be freed. Not many more days can it sustain with having a bucket on his head," the Chequamegon Humane Association (CHA) announced Sunday morning.
The CHA, which confirmed to Bring Me The News that bucket has been removed, first called attention to the black bear after it was spotted in Bayfield County, Wisconsin last week.
Nicknamed “Buckethead the Bear,” it had last been seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near the town of Cable, which is about 65 miles southeast of Duluth.
The jar was believed to have been stuck on the bear’s head for more than a week, which likely made it impossible for the bear to eat or drink — and difficult to breathe.
