Omarion Hampton was always a top-20 fantasy back in my redraft rankings, but he’s moved up into low-end RB1 territory now that Najee Harris is missing time due to an eye injury. Harris has been at training camp in street clothes, sporting a hoodie and sunglasses to protect the eye and perhaps to hide it from any onlookers. The longer he sits out, the more time Hampton has to impress coaches and distance himself from the veteran — and that’s exactly what he’s doing, according to everyone in and around the team, and he received early touches in the Hall of Fame preseason game. There’s a reason why the Chargers used a first-round pick on Hampton and fantasy managers should continue investing, even if it requires a third-round pick to draft him now.
