HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has identified a woman who died after a wrong-way, head-on crash over the weekend.

ALEA identified the woman as Angela Nicole Jones, 50, of Huntsville.

According to HPD, on Saturday after 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a reported head-on crash involving two SUVs near Highway 72 and Epworth Drive.

HPD said one driver was trapped inside their vehicle, while the other had non-life-threatening injuries.

Huntsville Fire personnel worked to remove the trapped driver, who died from their injuries at the hospital.

A member of HPD’s traffic homicide unit responded to lead the investigation.

HPD’s preliminary findings showed that the driver who died was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on Highway 72 when they hit head-on with the other driver.
