Chevrolet is releasing a series of next-generation Corvette design studies from its studios across the globe.
This second rendering comes from the General Motors design studio in Southern California.
The concept sports a massive, front-hinged canopy that covers the cockpit.
Chevrolet is showing off another one of its design studies for the would-be next-generation Corvette.
The latest in its series of Corvette renderings comes from its Southern California design studio and previews another futuristic styling direction for Chevrolet’s halo.
The California Corvette Concept
As you can see from the gallery above, the Pasadena designers didn’t pull any punches. They covered the predictably minimalist cockpit with a massive, front-hinged canopy that sports an augmented reality head-up display to feed information to the driver.
The interior cockpit also carries over the C8-generation’s sloping button bar extending from the dashboard to the center armrest.
Aptly named the California Corvette Concept, this design study transforms the Corvette into a carbon-tubbed, canopy-covered ‘Vette that doesn’t look too fundamentally different from the UK design studio’s offering.
Both concepts look at manipulating the air underneath the next-generation Corvette. Also, both concepts sport a similar wraparound windshield design.
How Big Is This?
Chevrolet says this concept spans 182.5 inches in length and 86 inches in width and is 41.4 inches tall.
That would mean this concept is about the same length as the C8 Corvette but is substantially wider and over seven inches shorter.
This concept would look wild parked on a curb.
With more of these concepts slated to come out of other GM design studios around the globe, we might accidentally get an idea of what to expect from the ninth-generation Corvette.
