Believe it or not, fall technically starts in less than a month.
Ahead of the season, forecasters are putting in their predictions for what the 2025 season could spell for the U.S.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration published its three-month climate outlook on July 17. The Old Farmer's Almanac, which has made weather predictions since 1792, also published its forecast for the season on July 11.

So, what do the two forecasters predict for Wisconsin's fall weather?
Here's what to know:
When does fall 2025 officially start?
Meteorological fall begins on Sept. 1 while astronomical fall begins on Sept. 22, with the autumnal equinox.
What is the NOAA predicting for Wisconsin's fall 2025 weather forecast?
Fall is expected to be warmer-than-normal across the entire nation, including in Wisconsin, according to the NOAA.
Most of the Badger State, including Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, is predicted to have a 40-50% chance of seeing above normal temperatures while the other half, including Eau Claire, Bayfield and Ashland, have a 33-40% chance of higher temperatures.
In terms of precipitation, the NOAA predicts nearly the entire state has equal chances of seeing the same amount as years prior — with the exception of a corner of the northwest. This portion of the state has a 33-40% chance of seeing less precipitation than usual.
How does the NOAA forecast compare to the Old Farmer's Almanac forecast?
The NOAA and the Old Farmer's Almanac have opposite forecasts for Wisconsin's fall temperatures.
The Almanac predicts cooler-than-normal weather for most of Wisconsin. In particular, it forecasts September and October will have average temperatures of 57 degrees and 45 degrees, respectively.
But, the two forecasts agree that Wisconsin likely won't have a wet fall.
It's worth noting the Old Farmer's Almanac forecasts are accurate about 80% of the time, according to its website. Though, forecasters noted last winter's forecasts were 64% accurate, which they said is "a reflection of how abnormal recent weather patterns have been."
A report from the Columbus Dispatch also found that most analyses of the almanac's predictions have an accuracy rate closer to 50%. So it's pretty much a coin toss.
