Back in June, Nissan announced an audacious Nismo variant of the Armada SUV. As it turns out, thought, that was not the only full-sized SUV with performance aspirations in the Nissan pipeline. Infiniti announced on Wednesday that is also creating a Sport grade for its QX80, a three-row SUV closely related to the Armada.
Like the Armada Nismo, the QX80 Sport stands out with uniquely-styled bodywork exclusive to the trim level. Unlike that Nismo SUV, however, the QX80's variations are muted. The differences start at the front, where a Sport-specific grille and bumper give the Infiniti's massive face a distinct look. Badges, roof rails, and other trim pieces are finished in a darker shade, fitting a more sinister-looking SUV.

Buyers can option the latest QX80 in one variant each of black, white, blue, or silver, and all colors except for black are also available with an optional black roof to create a two-tone look. A blue interior, diamond-quilted leather, and brown open pore wood highlight a sharp collection of interior styling changes.
Unfortunately for those hoping that Nissan and its luxury brand have properly entered the performance truck world with a pair of body-on-frame three-row SUVs, the Sport trim level does not include any further mechanical alterations. It does feature the same air suspension already available on the existing Luxe and Autograph trims of the car, but the QX80 Sport is not necessarily any more powerful or more suited to carving canyons than the range-topping Autograph variant.

Then again, it's also less expensive then that pinnacle trim. The Infiniti QX80 Sport starts at $104,140 after a $2190 destination and handling charge. That price brings the latest Infiniti three-row in at almost $10,000 below the QX80's flagship Autograph grade.
