
As soon as the fireworks dimmed on the Fourth of July, Halloween lovers declared spooky season officially underway.
Retailers have already begun stocking "Summerween" décor, and Spirit Halloween, the seasonal giant known for its pop-up stores, is preparing to haunt locations across Alabama once again, taking over vacant storefronts across the state, breathing eerie new life into former retail spaces like Party City, Bargain Hunt and Joann Fabrics.
The Halloween retailers are expected to open 1,500 locations across North America in 2025.
When is Spirit Halloween opening this year? Where will they be located in Alabama? Here's what to know.
What date will Spirit Halloween open in Alabama?
At least eight locations across the state are set to open sometime in August, though exact dates haven't been announced. The Oxford location is expected to open in September, while the rest are currently listed as "coming soon" on the company's website.
The company's flagship store in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, opened on Aug. 1, 2024, according to USA Today reports. In previous years, the store opened around the end of July.
Where are the Spirit Halloween locations in Alabama?
According to Spirit Halloween's website, Alabama residents will have access to 20 locations across the state this season. Many of these pop-ups are moving into former retail spaces. Here's a look at the confirmed locations and spaces they're taking over:

Decatur: Former Bargain Hunt, 2019 6th Avenue SE and 1801 Beltline Road Southwest, Former Men’s Belk
Dothan: Former JoAnns Fabric, 900 Commons Drive
Florence: Former Big Lots, 340 Seville St.
Gadsden: 405 George Wallace Drive, Suite 21-405
Hoover: Former Buy Buy Baby, 4391 Creekside Avenue
Huntsville: 6275 University Drive NW, Suite 24
Mobile: 3250 Airport Boulevard 14 and 3725 Airport Boulevard, Former Bed Bath and Beyond
Montgomery: Former JoAnns Fabrics, 7951 Eastchase Pkwy
Oxford: Former Design World, 561 Davis Loop
Pell City: Former Badcock Home Furniture, 613 Martin Street North
Phenix City: Former Big Lots, 1109 280 BYP
