State Sen. Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) has been officially recognized as the most conservative state senator in Illinois, according to the legislative scorecard recently released by the American Conservative Union Foundation, the non-profit educational arm of the Conservative Political Action Conference Foundation (CPAC), for the votes he cast in 2024.

Chesney earned the highest score for conservative politics in the State Senate. The 2024 scorecard analyzed 19 key pieces of legislation, and Chesney’s record stood out for its firm opposition to what he calls “radical progressive overreach” in Springfield.

“If you’ve had coffee with me at a local diner, you already know how I vote in Springfield,” Chesney said in a news release. “No double-speak. No excuses. Just common sense, conservative values, and the fortitude to stand up and fight for them.”

Bills analyzed for the scorecard included legislation regarding the public university waiver of transcript evaluation fees for refugees, taxpayer-funded subsidies for clean energy projects, landlord property rights, taxpayer-funded abortion, DEI-driven curriculum and government expansion.

“I will never apologize for standing strong against government overreach, woke indoctrination, or reckless spending,” Chesney added. “I didn’t go to Springfield to make friends. I went to fight for working families, defend our Constitution, and stop the madness.”
