One person has been arrested after an active shooter incident at a Georgia army base injured five soldiers, per authorities.
An active shooter warning went into place at an army base in Fort Stewart, Ga., and several casualties were initially reported, Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield said in a statement a little before noon on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Per an updated statement, authorities responded to a report of a shooting at 10:56 a.m. The shooter was apprehended less than an hour later, at around 11:35 a.m.
The five injured soldiers were treated on-site before being transported to a medical facility for further treatment, the statement read.
No further information about the identity or motive of the shooter was available at the time of publication.
An investigation is ongoing.
