Alex Palou proves why he’s the best current driver at Laguna Seca, dominating the race from the start through a three-pit stop cycle and multiple late cautions, only losing the lead for one 11-lap period to Nolan Siegel, who led his first laps in INDYCAR today. This is his third win here in four years and second consecutive from the pole.
As the field gambled with tire compounds and pit strategies, Palou continued in a class of his own, Christian Lundgaard recorded his second podium of the season and first since Barber.
Colton Herta completed the podium.
Pato O’Ward, who started on the front row next to Palou, needed to finish ahead of Palou to hold on to his championship hopes; instead, he fell to fourth, missing out on a podium.
With O'Ward off the podium, the McLaren driver's clearest and only path to the championship is winning the next three rounds at Portland, Milwaukee, and Nashville.
Scott Dixon moved up 14 positions to finish fifth.
First driver to win eight races in a season since Sebastien Bourdais in 2007.
