A recent analysis by Realtor.com found that Rhode Island is one of the least affordable states to buy a home, with a median list price in the state of $599,450.

By using data from the Zillow Home Value Index (ZHVI) and the U.S. Census Bureau, GoBankingRates compiled a list in July of the least expensive places in each state to buy a home.
In Rhode Island, you’ll have to head north.
Where is the cheapest place to buy a home in Rhode Island?
According to GoBankingRates, the cheapest place to buy a home in Rhode Island is Central Falls.
The 2025 ZHVI is $393,251, which is still more than the typical home value in the U.S. of $367,711, according to Zillow.
Central Fall is the hometown of actress Viola Davis.
