Two people were reportedly found "unresponsive" and a third remains missing following a plane crash off the coast of California.

According to flight data, via KSBW, a two-engine aircraft went down in the Pacific Ocean near Sunset Drive and Jewell Avenue in Pacific Grove, California at around 10:38 p.m. Saturday night. Several agencies responded to emergency calls, including the Coast Guard, Monterey County Sheriff's Office, Pacific Grove Police and CAL FIRE.

In a press release issued Sunday, the Coast Guard said the Beech 95-B55, tail number N8796R, had three people aboard when it went down 200-300 yards off Point Pinos. The aircraft had taken off from San Carlos airport.

"Station Monterey launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew, which arrived on scene approximately 15 minutes after notification," the Coast Guard said. "Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco also coordinated the launch of an Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew."

According to the Coast Guard announcement, two people were found "unresponsive" onboard the wreckage, and the search for the third person remains ongoing.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.

Local residents told KSWB that they heard engines revving and a splash, which led to 911 calls. Debris from the crash has reportedly been washing up on shore.

United States Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Graves told Newsweek that official "have located some of the debris, the search is still ongoing."
