Prestige Black trims demand a much higher price, though
Genesis, one of the most underrated luxury brands in North America, has revealed a new Prestige Black trim for its top models. Knowing how important aesthetics are in the upper segments of the market, this stylish makeover will apply to the G80, G90, GV80, and GV80 Coupe.
Prestige Black trims have only been available in Korea until now, but the dark look now expands to the U.S. and Canadian markets. The black look goes down to small details like the key fobs, so it’s much more than a dark coat of paint. Let’s take a closer look at the new Prestige Black models from Genesis.
The Black Look Perfectly Complements Genesis’ Grand Designs

Outside, the sedans and SUVs have a distinctively stealthy appearance. Customers opting for a Prestige Black model can choose from either Vik Black or Uyuni White paint, the latter obviously providing more of a contrast against all the black elements. Genesis says the Vik Black paint contains particles called Black Diamond Pearl that shimmer in natural light.
Depending on the model, there are black alloy wheels measuring between 20 and 22 inches in size. Headlights feature black inner bezels and all models get a gloss black finish for the grille, door hand accents, and daylight opening moldings. There are also darkened Genesis emblems and black brake calipers.

“North American customers are increasingly looking for vehicles that express their personal style while offering exceptional craftsmanship," said Tedros Mengiste, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America. “Prestige Black delivers exactly that. It’s unique, yet simple design, offers a bold new look with enhanced sophistication.”
Plush And Classy Interiors

Inside, the Prestige Black models have an Obsidian Black Monotone interior with Black Ash open-pore wood applied to the front center console, dashboard, and upper door panels. A black finish has also been applied to touchpoints like the door handles, HVAC controls, and even the steering wheel buttons.
The leather itself looks fantastic, as is generally the case inside Genesis sedans and SUVs. It’s soft Nappa leather with plush quilting. All four models in this specification also have anodized black speaker grilles.
The dark look is at odds with the purple leather cabin of the recently spied GV90.

When we drove the 2025 Genesis G80, we described it as “a classic luxury sedan in all the best ways.” It was smooth, quiet, and calming to drive, a sentiment that generally applies to all the top Genesis models. And, since the Prestige Black models don’t have any contrived sporting updates under the skin, you can enjoy the unique aesthetic with the same relaxed driving experience for which the brand is known.

Prestige Black Models Don’t Come Cheap, Though

There’s a hefty price to pay for the Black Prestige models, so that’s something to consider if you’re into the blacked-out look.
The G80 Prestige Black starts at $79,350, way above the $57,100 starting price of the base G80. You’ll need to hand over $105,750 for the G90 Prestige Black, $83,250 for the GV80 Prestige Black, and $89,400 for the GV80 Coupe Prestige Black. These prices don’t include a destination charge of $1,495.
Special blacked-out models are increasingly being popularized by ultra-luxury automakers, as the aesthetic appeals to modern shoppers. Bentley has its Mulliner Blackline specification and Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge models have been well-received. Outside of the ultra-luxury segment, Lincoln has used the Black Label moniker for its top models for some time.
When the practical Genesis GV90 arrives, we expect it to be topped by its own Prestige Black trim.
