The Illinois State Fair kicked off on Thursday, Aug. 7 and will continue to attract hundreds of thousands of fairgoers for the next two weekends in Springfield.
As such, the Illinois Departments of Transportation and Agriculture announced temporary changes in traffic patterns around the fairgrounds to accommodate the influx of vehicles.
Here's what to know about road closures and parking for the state fair.
Which roads will be closed for the Illinois State Fair?
Beginning at 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, the traffic flow around the fairgrounds will be changed to one way counterclockwise.
Both eastbound and westbound turn lanes from Veterans Parkway to Eighth Street will also be closed.
Temporary signs will inform motorists of the changes, and normal traffic patterns will resume by 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, according to the IDOT.

Is there street parking for the Illinois State Fair?
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 7, through the morning of Monday, Aug. 18, parking will be prohibited on the neighborhood streets south of Sangamon Avenue.
Fairgoers can park at gates 4, 6, 7, 8 or 11 for $5 or purchase a seasonal parking pass for gate 6 for $40.
