GLENWOOD, Iowa — The suspect in a western Iowa double homicide and home explosion has died.

Burnell was named as the suspect in a fatal-double shooting that occurred at his Glenwood home before it was engulfed in flames. According to Glenwood police, shortly after the shooting an explosion occurred, leading to the raging fire.

On Wednesday evening multiple law enforcement agencies as well as medical personnel responded to Burnell’s home located in the 400 block of North Grove Street on a report of a shooting. When emergency crews arrived they located married couple 38-year-old Brandon Oman and 35-year-old Stevie Oman with gunshot wounds outside of the home. Both died from their injuries.

The Iowa DCI said it’s believed the shooting was the result of an “interpersonal dispute between the parties.” No additional information has been released.
