South Florida is in for a soggy Saturday as a slow-moving disturbance lingers over the state, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
While no flood watches or warnings have been issued, forecasters caution that some storms could turn strong, producing damaging winds and heavy downpours. The weather service also notes that excessive rainfall could cause flooding in urban areas and spots with poor drainage.
Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Fisher said people should expect scattered showers through the day, with some pockets of heavy rain across the coast before the bulk of the activity shifts toward Southwest Florida later in the day.
