Teenage girl killed after gunman shoots into Kansas City home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a gunman shot into a Kansas City home Saturday night and killed a teenage girl.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 10 p.m., officers were called to the area of East 36th Street and Norton Avenue on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they reported finding a teenage girl unresponsive and suffering from one or multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene and took the girl to a hospital. She was pronounced dead by staff shortly after arriving.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the teenage girl was inside a home when gunfire from an unknown suspect(s) came from outside the home and hit the girl inside.

At this time, there is no suspect in custody; however, crime scene investigators and homicide detectives are canvassing the area and searching for evidence.
