
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana ranks among the worst states to live in, according to a new study.
A WalletHub study placed Louisiana at No. 49 for livability. The study used 51 “key indicators,” including housing costs, income growth, education rate, and more, to compile rankings.
Louisiana ranked:
No. 30 for housing costs.
No. 25 for homeownership rate.
No. 49 for the percentage of the population in poverty.
No. 41 for income growth.
No. 29 for the percentage of the insured population.
No. 46 for the percentage of adults in fair or poor health.
No. 47 for average weekly work hours.
No. 27 for restaurants per capita.
Other states ranking among the worst include New Mexico, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alaska.
States identified as the best to live in were Massachusetts, Idaho, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
