The blistering heat and high humidity will continue into this week in Illinois, with heat advisories issued throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service. Thankfully, storms may bring a cold front to some areas later in the week.

Extreme Heat Warnings for Illinois
The NWS issued an Extreme Heat Warning in portions of southern, west central and north central Illinois today, with extreme heat expected through Wednesday in southern counties. These areas will see dangerously hot conditions and heat indexes up to 115.
Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles.
Heat advisories in Illinois
Heat advisories are in place in portions of central, northeast and southeast Illinois today until around 8 p.m. this evening. Heat indexes up to 105-115 are expected.

Central Illinois weather forecast
Dangerous heat conditions will continue through midweek with daily chances for storms. Much cooler temperatures will arrive later in the week.
Monday: Highs of 90-95 degrees with high index and chance of storms during the day. Lows in the mid 70s at night.
Tuesday: Highs in the mid 90s with high index and chance of storms during the day. Lows in the mid 70s at night.
Wednesday: Highs of 80-90 degrees with high index and chance of storms during the day. Lows of 65-75 at night.
Thursday: Highs of 75-80 degrees with a chance of storms during the day. Lows of 55-65 at night.
Chicago weather forecast
Dangerous heat and high humidity are expected today and tomorrow, with potential morning thunderstorms both days. Storms could produce locally damaging gusts and potentially bring a cold front Wednesday afternoon, as well as dangerous swimming conditions.
Monday: Very humid with chance of storms, highs of 90-94 degrees and heat indexes of 100-110 during the day. Lows of 73-76 at night.
Tuesday: Humid with chance of storms, highs of 86-94 degrees and heat indexes of 100-110 away from the lake during the day. Lows of 67-72 with chance of storms at night.
Wednesday: Chance of storms with highs of 75-84 degrees during the day, and stormy with lows of 69-67 at night. Dangerous swimming conditions in the evening.
Thursday: Less humid and partly sunny, with highs of 73-78 degrees during the day. Partly cloudy with lows of 55-64 and dangerous swimming conditions at night.
