A Reminder of Dodge’s V10 Past
The Dodge Viper GTS has long been a paradox among sports cars. It is at once a straightforward machine – brutal power from an 8.0-liter V10, a six-speed manual, and none of the electronic safety nets that have since become standard – and an object of poster-worthy desire.
The first-year 1996 GTS coupe introduced the now-famous double-bubble roof, blue paint with white stripes, and a design that became the definitive Viper silhouette. For most owners, these were cars to be driven hard, enjoyed, and occasionally survived.
This example, however, is different. With only 45 miles on its odometer – way fewer miles than other Viper GTSs sold before – it is a three-decade-old delivery, preserved rather than used.

A 45-Mile Viper GTS Begging to be Driven
This Viper GTS is part of the Silver Arrow Cars "Barn Find Viper Collection" and is being sold on Bring a Trailer. Finished in Viper GTS Blue with white stripes and Indianapolis 500 Official Pace Car graphics, it retains its original polished 17-inch five-spoke wheels, Michelin Pilot SX tires, and factory projector headlights. Exterior features also include a vented hood, integrated rear lip spoiler, racing-style fuel filler, fog lights, and dual center-exit exhaust outlets.
The interior is finished in black leather with matching dashboard, center console, and door panels. Equipment includes bucket seats, air conditioning, adjustable pedals, power windows, dual airbags, and an Alpine CD stereo.
Under the hood is the 8.0-liter OHV V10, rated at 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear axles via a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The original window sticker shows delivery to Regent Dodge in Madison, Tennessee, with a factory MSRP of $69,300. The sale includes manufacturer’s literature and a clean Carfax report.

Current Bid at $100,000 With Only a Few Days Left
With bidding at $100,000 and the clock ticking toward the August 15 close, the conversation under the listing is as lively as the car’s exhaust note would be – if it ever saw a highway.
The comment section has turned into a split jury: one side shaking their heads at a machine kept on a pedestal, the other defending the art of preservation.
The seller offered a simple explanation: the previous owner enjoyed the car in their own way – by keeping it exactly as it left the showroom. Whether the next owner will continue treating it as a time capsule or decide to finally put a few real miles on it is the only real suspense left in this auction.
