A feud is exploding between Dale Earnhardt’s son and his widow as the latter plans to sell his land in Mooresville, North Carolina. The plan is to take hundreds of wooded acres where Dale would hut, fish, and enjoy nature, turning it into a massive data center run by an unnamed tech company.

A NASCAR team owner’s car collection has just been left to rot.

Many feel the move is a slap in the face of Dale and his legacy, not to mention his beloved community in Mooresville. But his widow, Teresa Earnhardt, doesn’t seem to care about such opinions.

However, Dale’s eldest son, Kerry Earnhardt, has plenty to say about trashing his father’s land. Taking to Facebook, he shared his thoughts:

“My Dad would be livid for his name to be associated in this title!

“Frankly, I’m ashamed our family name is involved in the request to rezone a community that is thriving as a Rural Residential/Agriculture zone to be changed to Industrial.

“Infrastructures like this don’t belong in neighborhoods where people’s natural resources will be depleted, wildlife will be uprooted, and the landscape and lives of the people that call this area home will forever be changed. I’d rather see homes built with people loving the land we live on…. the way this area was Intended to be!

“I look forward to Monday’s meeting at the Mooresville Town Hall.”

The proposed project is supposed to cost a whopping $30 billion, reports NBC News, and will consume 400 acres of presently open land. A Denver-based company named Tract is behind the deal, but won’t reveal what tech company would be managing the data center.

That secrecy, along with the plan to switch the land from rural and residential use to industrial, has residents fighting mad. Even the mayor of Mooresville has said he has serious problems with the data center. But Teresa Earnhardt undoubtedly stands to make a bundle of cash off the deal.

What’s just as interesting is how silent Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been about the whole ordeal. He usually has no problem sounding off on any number of issues, including social justice and politics, but is uncharacteristically quiet.
