Warning: If your worst nightmare is finding a snake in your walls, pipes, or crawlspace, what follows may be extremely triggering. During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on August 12, Zoë Kravitz revealed that she almost lost a snake in Taylor Swift’s home.

The whole ordeal happened earlier this year, when Zoë, her mother, Lisa Bonet, and her mother’s pet snake, Orpheus, stayed at Taylor’s Beverly Hills home after being evacuated due to the L.A. fires. “We ended up having to stay there for maybe about two weeks,” Zoë said, adding that it was a “beautiful” old house—“something you want to preserve and take care of.”

For two weeks, all was well with Zoë, Lisa, and Orpheus. It wasn’t until Zoë was preparing to leave for work that things went sideways. “I was saying to my mom, like, ‘I really want to be a good houseguest, I like leaving places better than I found them, I don’t even want her to know we were here,’” the actor recounted.

According to Zoë, she was cleaning when suddenly she received a call from her mother telling her to come to the bathroom. When she got there, she said, her mother was crouched in the corner of the room. “And I’m like, ‘What's going on, dude?’ And she’s like, ‘So, I was washing my face and I had Orpheus and I just put her down for a second, closed the door, and she found this little hole in the corner,’” Zoë said.

It turns out, Lisa was crouched down because she was hanging on to the snake as it was making its way deeper into the walls of Taylor’s house. Eventually, the mother-daughter duo both had a hold on the snake when Taylor’s house manager arrived. “He gets a crowbar and starts having to, like, tear apart this banquette, we’re ripping up the tile, we’re scratching the walls,” she continued. “There was this moment where I was like, ‘Either we destroy her bathroom, or I have to tell her that there’s a snake somewhere in her house.’”

They ended up going with the first option, destroying Tay’s bathroom and rescuing Orpheus, who Zoë assured Seth Meyers was safe and sound. As for Blondie’s reaction to the ordeal, it sounds like she was pretty cool about it. But, as we know from Reputation, Taylor’s not afraid of a little snake.
