University of Arkansas-Fort Smith students gear up for Cub Camp

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — First-year students will get their first experience with college life at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith’s annual Cub Camp on August 14.

365 new students will be on campus for the university’s three-day student orientation program.

The camp runs through August 16 and is supported by 120 student volunteers who serve as counselors, chairs, and directors.

The program combines educational sessions with social activities to help students foster community, leadership skills and newfound independence.

Around 200 students will get their first opportunity to live on campus in their new dorms.

Highlights of this year’s camp include the team-based Cub Camp Games, Family Feud and the traditional showcase dance off.
