(NewsNation) — A New York woman traveled to Arkansas in search of a diamond for her engagement ring and hit the jackpot.

Micherre Fox, 31, found a 2.30-carat stone after weeks of scouring Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, 110 miles southeast of Little Rock.

Fox, who hails from Manhattan, New York, said the endeavor was born out of a desire to mirror what marriage will be like.

“There’s something symbolic about being able to solve problems with money, but sometimes money runs out in a marriage,” she told Arkansas State Parks. “You need to be willing and able to solve those problems with hard work.”

Per Arkansas State Parks, Fox found the diamond on July 29, her last day at the park.

“Having never seen an actual diamond in my hands, I didn’t know for sure, but it was the most ‘diamond-y diamond’ I had seen,” she said.

Upon appraisal at the park’s Diamond Discovery Center, staff confirmed it was a white diamond.

“I got on my knees and cried, then started laughing,” she said.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is one of the only parks in the world that allows the public to search and keep gemstones they find.
