Mechanic Finds Assembly Worker’s Wallet Lost 11 Years Before

Mechanics come across all kinds of crazy stuff while working on cars, but an assembly worker’s lost wallet is a new one. Btu that’s exactly what an automotive repair shop owner came across while taking apart a 2015 Ford Edge recently.

A seemingly plain 1979 Ford F-150 is quite literally a one-in-a-million truck.

The mechanic, who lives in Minnesota, was replacing the cooling fans on the Ford crossover, which is over a decade old now, when he made the shocking discovery. That was about the last thing the man expected to discover while working on a car.

What’s even more shocking was the wallet wasn’t sitting between the fans and the radiator or some crazy spot like that. Instead, the mechanic told WHAS11 it was just under the air intake box, which nobody had reason to remove since the Edge left the factory.

While the mechanic was puzzled at the discovery at first, he put together the puzzle when he started going through the wallet. In there he found the assembly worker’s Ford employee badge and that’s when it clicked in his mind how the wallet got there.

Using the worker’s name, the mechanic was able to track him down and arrange to return it.

That assembly worker said on the day he lost his wallet he wore sweatpants to work, which he usually never did. Instead of having his wallet in his pants pocket, he put it in his shirt pocket. At some point, while he was leaning over open engine compartments, the wallet fell out and nobody noticed as the air intake box was installed, obscuring it until now.

For the first several years of its life, the Ford Edge was in Arizona, going to a dealership there. It endured extreme heat before it was taken to Lake Crystal, Minnesota and there endured brutal cold.

While all the cards left in the wallet were cancelled by the assembly worker long ago, he was impressed that every last dollar bill was still there, along with $250 in gift cards. As they say, an honest mechanic is worth plenty, including to automotive assembly line workers.
