A Polk County Sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck while responding to an accident on Interstate 80.
The deputy was assisting the Iowa State Patrol at an accident scene near Altoona around 4:40 a.m. Aug. 15.
While parked at the scene, the deputy's marked Tahoe was struck from behind by a different vehicle.

The deputy was inside at the time and sustained minor injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The unnamed deputy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating the cause of both crashes and additional details were not yet available.
