“His leadership and commitment to country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trump’s mission. While we know this is undoubtedly a great loss for Missouri, it is a tremendous gain for America,” said U.S. Attorney General Bondi.
He was appointed by former Gov. Mike Parson, where he took over for Eric Schmitt as attorney general in January 2023 after Schmitt won the election for U.S. Senate. He was just elected to a full term in the AG’s Office last November.
Bailey’s resignation will take effect on Sept. 8, 2025. His successor will be appointed by Gov. Mike Kehoe, and will complete the remainder of Bailey’s term.
